MDB's Troy Clark records highest finish for area runner at CC championships - Daily Commercial: SportsPublished by

Lake and Sumter counties were represented at Saturday’s Florida High School Athletic Association Cross Country Championships at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee.
For a while, in fact, in the Class 1A boys race, it appeared that Mount Dora Bible might have to make room for a state championship trophy.
Bulldogs senior Troy Clark hit the first checkpoint in the 5-kilometer run ahead of all other competitors, but tailed off in the stretch to finish fourth in 16 minutes, 10.07 seconds. Clark’s run was the top finish for all area runners over the course which wound through the woods near the state capitol.
Windermere Prep’s Franco Martins won the race in 15:44.23 and hit the intermediate checkpoint trailing Clark by .12 seconds. Clark was the only area runner in the boys Class 1A race. Read the full article at: www.dailycommercial.com
